The Descendants won op zijn beurt het gouden beeldje voor beste film, beste animatiefilm werd Kuifje. De Golden Globes worden vaak gezien als indicatie voor de Oscars, die in februari weer worden uitgereikt.

Natuurlijk was de uitreiking van de Golden Globes ook voor vele Hollywoodsterren weer aanleiding om hun mooiste pak/jurk uit de kast te halen. Bruno spotte ze op de rode loper.
